If you follow us on Instagram, you know that we were recently commissioned to create a leather covered countertop for the new tasting room at Hillick & Hobbs Winery https://hillickandhobbs.com. Hillick & Hobbs Vineyard is precariously perched on the steep slopes of the eastern bank of Seneca Lake. They are known for their dry Riesling wine.
The leather countertop will be part of a tokonoma, a recessed, decorative space in the tasting room. Trade Design Build https://tradedesignbuild.com is building the tasting room, which is opening soon!
We used premium, hand selected 9-10 ounce vegetable tanned steer hide for the project. The tabletop features 13 feet of hand stitching, and the leather is seamlessly rolled over the front edge. Find videos of the process on Instagram account instagram.com/underthetreeithaca
